Rafael Nantes & Climene Almeida form the editing duo RompeCabezas based in São Paulo, Brazil, and are members of edt. (Brazil's Association of Audiovisual Editing Professionals). Together, they bring more than 30 years of experience crafting stories, his in film and television, hers in journalism and communications across Latin America.
Since 2022, they've worked as creative partners side by side at two edit bays, splitting up the material to cut but coming together for the decisions that matter most: concept, story, and emotion. They sign every project jointly, understanding creation as something that happens beyond any one mind.
The advantage is twofold: for them, splitting the workload without losing a unified voice frees up energy to fine-tune details, refine sound and picture, and put every cut through a second pair of eyes before delivery. With roots in documentary and writing, they're well-versed in unscripted storytelling, long-form interviews, multicam shoots, and large volumes of footage, giving them the expertise to handle large-scale fiction and documentary projects without losing the thread.
Native speakers of Portuguese and Spanish who are also fluent in English, they comfortably edit multilingual productions. They also work as assistant editors, with a solid foundation in media management, editorial organization, and turnovers, keeping the post-production pipeline running smoothly across multiple teams (Avid, Premiere, and Resolve).
Over the course of their careers, they've collaborated with clients including HBO Max, Disney+, Star+, Globoplay, Prime Video, Peacock, Google, Facebook, McCann NY, Wieden+Kennedy NY, Mercado Livre, VTEX, Sony Music, and Thomson Reuters.
The duo focuses on editing fiction and documentary films and series. For directors, producers, and post-production supervisors, working with them means gaining a range of perspectives grounded in collaboration and storytelling.
